Living Paper — Zero

You are looking at it: vellum #f6f2e9, ink #1c1a15, slate asides #6f685c, one earned sienna. Shadows are banned — what looks raised here is a lift: a thicker bottom-right edge, the way stacked paper actually sits. Tokens live in forme-tokens.css; nothing on a Living Paper surface names a color directly.

The DC-1 is e-ink first. Meaning must survive with no hue at all — carried by form: dashed is a proposal, solid is real, filled is active. Prove it to yourself:

Nothing breaks. Nothing was ever leaning on color.

The hand's line is a first-class citizen — in the grammar tools a designer's strokes are data, stored inside the rules themselves. This sheet keeps the same faith: draw in the box and your ink becomes part of this page, on this device, across visits.

This page — this whole system — makes no sound. The zone inverts, the layer settles, the ink appears: light and form are the entire feedback channel. A calm device does not beep at the person holding it. (Learned by ruling, July 5.)

Layers arrive on top of the one thing you're doing, and recede when dismissed — depth is meaning, never navigation.

Physical controls are landmarks; on-screen affordances live where the hardware is. In the simulator the press-zones sit exactly where the DC-1's keys are — you reach with the same fingers you'd use on the real machine. “You don't have to go to the address to engage with the house — but the house knows its address.”

The human voice is a Georgia-family serif, like this sentence. MARGINALIA, CODES, AND CAPTIONS ARE SMALL MONO WITH ROOM TO BREATHE, and the quiet aside is italic slate, saying the softer thing. Borders are 1.5px ink. Margins are generous because paper is.

Consent layers question; they never command. Errors are warm and name the next move. Identity is a first name. For example:
